PLEASE NOTE:  Payment MUST be made to guarantee a spot – it is first come, first served.  Quickest and easiest way is to pay by credit card – LATA pays for the transaction charge so it’s no extra charge to you.  If you are mailing a check, your spot will not be guaranteed until that check is received.

Sundays 2pm to 5pm – starting February 3^rd

FORMAT:  Traditional Team Tennis – 1 doubles set/1 singles set

FORMAT:  Traditional Team Tennis – 1 doubles set/1 singles set

FORMAT:  Traditional Team Tennis – 1 doubles set/1 singles set

FORMAT:  Doubles Only – 3 sets

Saturdays 4pm to 6pm – starting MARCH 2^nd (late start due to court availability)

OPEN ONLY TO Open/A/B/C Tiers – if you are new to LATA and do not have a ranking, contact me before signing up.  Do not sign up if you are not one of the above tiers.

Last call for LATA Summer Team Tennis 2012!

Saturday, Wednesday, and Tuesday leagues are full and cannot be expanded.

But Sunday, Monday, and Thursday Doubles leagues have openings if I can get the right number of players.  Please note:  Sunday will be a 2-hour league starting at 3PM so a little cooler hopefully!

Sunday begins July 22nd at Burbank Tennis Center 3PM-5PM
Monday begins July 23rd at Weddington/Whitsett/Studio City 7PM-9PM
Thursday begins July 25th at Weddington/Whitsett/Studio City 7PM-9PM

So go to lataweb.com and sign up for team tennis and pay for Sunday, Monday or Thursday Doubles NOW.  I’ll keep them open for just a few more days before making the draws.  If I can’t get you in, you’ll get a full refund of your money.

Hey LATA Members!

The following is from Paul Yates, our Team Tennis Director. Note the July 4th prize deadline!

LATA Team Tennis Summer Season 2012 is around the corner and, if you haven’t done so already, now is the best time to sign up for a league.

Players signed up for a league by July 4th will automatically be entered into a draw for special prizes … Brand New Tennis Rackets (strung) including Fernando Verdasco’s racket (well, not his racket but the same model)!  Eligibility for the draw will be contingent on signing up by July 4th Independence Day and still being entered in a league as of July 14th.  We’ll do the draw on Ranking Day July 14th.

Most leagues still have openings.  Wednesday Night is full but if you sign up and pay you will go on a wait list with a great chance of making it into the league.  And don’t forget about our new Saturday League at Cheviot Hills on the Westside.

Hi everyone,

Paul Yates asked me to tell all you players coming out for West Coast Cup that the first practice, which is this Sunday, April 29th, will be at La Cienega Tennis Center (La Cienega between Gregory Way and Olympic Blvd.) This is a one-time change due to a special event being held at Cheviot. All future WCC practices will be held at Cheviot, as normal. So again, here’s the info for this Sunday only:

West Coast Cup Practice
Sunday April 29th 6PM to 8PM
La Cienega Tennis Center Beverly Hills  (NOT Cheviot – it is closed
for special event)

Hello LATA Members!

Paul Yates, our Team Tennis Chair, asked me to let you know about the start of West Coast Cup. Please see below. (Pac Cup and Cal Cup announcements coming soon!)

West Coast Cup 2012

First meeting/practice April 29th at Cheviot Hills Tennis Center 6PM to 8PM.

Now in its second year, West Coast Cup is a fun, competitive tennis event for GLTA “C” Level players and below from San Francisco, San Diego, Palm Springs, and Los Angeles.   The format is based on the popular Cal Cup (for Open/A level) and Pac Cup (for B level) events.

The two-day West Coast Cup tournament is scheduled for August 25th and 26th at Golden Gate Park in SF.  If you enjoy team events, it’s a great weekend of tennis, friends, and more.

LA will field a team of 14 to 16 players to represent LATA.  An application is posted on the LATA website or contact Paul Yates at pymedia@gmail.com for more info.

Let’s get out there and teach SF and San Diego a lesson!

Hey LATA members! The following is an announcement from Paul Yates, head of Team Tennis. This is going to be a really fun league! Please sign up!

LATA Team Tennis is in full swing.  But there’s one more league you can sign up for and it begins Tuesday March 27th.

It’s Tuesday Night Doubles.  The format is simple – a six-week league which features full doubles matches (no second deuce!!) and you play with the same partner for six weeks.

Eligible players include Open, A, B, and C tiers.  You can sign up with a partner or you can have one assigned.

The location:  Weddington Tennis Center (formerly Whitsett)
The time:  Tuesdays 7pm to 9pm Starts March 27th
The cost: $60 per player

If you haven’t played Weddington/Whitsett in a while, there is new lighting and courts have been resurfaced so it’s a good place to play.

If already a member, go to the Team Tennis Signup link on your LATA member dashboard on the website.   If not a member, it’s easy and fast to rejoin and sign up for Team Tennis.

Once you sign up for Tuesday Doubles, send me an email with the name of your doubles partner.  ALSO, they will need to sign up ASAP. BECAUSE … your spot in the league is only guaranteed once the fee is paid – if you pay online it, it’s virtually instant.  If you send in a mailed check, your spot is based is based on when that check is received.   There are 24 spots available – 6 teams per pool.

Deadline:  March 13th, 2012.  No refunds after that date.

WEDNESDAY: We’ve hit our goal of 48 signups, so this night is CLOSED!

Again, if you’re looking to play Winter League, and why wouldn’t you, Monday night is your last chance. Please log in on the LATA website and sign up — it’s great for your game and lots of fun!
