Center Court Roundup

Monday, September 10th, 2012

Hello LATA Members!

The GLTA Center Court tournament was played over Labor Day weekend. It was a hot one, but our tournament organizers, Steve Sax and Travis Siems, as well as several other volunteers, worked overtime to get all the matches on, and the players battled the high temperature and produced some great tennis. Unfortunately, I was on court for most of Monday, and as such wasn’t able to grab any interviews with the winners. But LATA represented well, as usual, and here are the results:

US Open Viewing Party This Sunday, 9/9!

Wednesday, September 5th, 2012

Hello LATA Members!

As you probably know, the US Open is underway. There’s already been plenty of drama, but it will come to its peak the day of the men’s final, September 9th. You’re invited to watch the men’s final at the home of Luis Melo out in lovely Encino. Luis and his partner have a great game-room setup, and it’s always fun to watch a big match with other tennis-playing friends. We tried this for the French Open, but while it was a lovely party, between the time delay and the conflict with Pride, not many people could make it. This time, things should be different. 🙂 So, please check out these important notes:

IMPORTANT NOTES:

— Luis only has room for about 20-25 guests. So if you’re planning to come, you must RSVP to me (my email is newsletter@lataweb.com). I will confirm with you that there is still room. PLEASE DO NOT SHOW UP WITHOUT HAVING COMMUNICATED WITH ME. Luis is opening his house; the least we can do is make things as easy as possible for him.

— Refreshments will be available, but you’re welcome to bring anything you like to share.

— The match starts live at 1 PM Pacific.
Now, here’s the attendance info:
WHERE: Luis Melo’s Game Room
              18015 Santa Rita Street
Encino, CA 91316 (If something comes up the day of the event, you can call Luis directly at 714-313-3809)
WHEN: Sunday, September 9, 12 noon until the end of the match
Again, don’t forget to RSVP if you’re coming, and please contact me directly with any questions. Looking forward to watching some great tennis with fellow league members!
Best,
John Ramos
