Thank you to many of you who came out yesterday for ranking day, and on behalf of me, LATA president James Carroll, and the rest of the LATA board, we wanted to welcome you to the league and invite you to today’s casual LATA mixer/social event.  The mixer is today 3-6pm at Gym Bar in West Hollywood, at 8737 Santa Monica Blvd.  We would love to see you today!

The event is very casual, you are welcome to bring your friends and just stop by, and please introduce yourselves to members of the board as we always want to get to know our new members.

We will also be having sign-ups for the singles club tournament in 2 weeks, Jan 21-22, and you can bring $50 cash/check if you want to sign up.  Some of you have expressed reservations about suddenly playing in the club tournament in a new league you are suddenly joining.  To calm some of your fears, our club tournament, like our league, is meant more as a fun social event that is not meant to be extremely competitive or serious.  We actually highly encourage our new members to play in the tournament as this is a great way to meet other members of LATA and play more matches.  Also, we generally tend to rank new members conservatively, so you shouldn’t be placed in a ranking level where you will suddenly get blown off the courts in your matches.  (In fact, you may wind up pleasantly surprising everyone and winning your ranking division).  The deadline to sign up for the tournament is Jan 14.,  applications are online here: http://www.lataweb.com/system/attachments/1027/original/2012-singles-club-tournament-app.pdf?1320166833 and you can contact Steve Sax <ssax25@aol.com> if there are any problems registering.
